Did anybody happen to catch the full moon rising last night? The clouds that were hanging around all day finally moved out just in time for a clear view of the horizon. This was the scene at Rye harbor just after 7:30 pm.On a technical note, this photo was fairly challenging. The winds were still whipping pretty bad so it was tough catching the boats in a pleasing composition. And in order to get both the moon and boats in focus, shooting a small aperture was a must. The only problem is that with a small aperture and low ambient light, the shutter speed goes way up, and most of the shots I took came out blurry. This is why I try to catch moonrises that occur just before sunset, as there is still a fair amount of good natural light where you can keep the aperture small and shutter speeds up!
